World Day for Safety and Health at Work is observed every year on the 28th April in remembrance of workers who lost their lives and in solidarity with those workers who have been injured or diseased in the course of their work. The day was declared by the International Labour Organization (ILO) to promote the prevention of occupational accidents and diseases globally. World Day for Safety and Health at Work is an awareness-raising campaign intended to focus international attention on emerging trends in the field of occupational safety and health and on the magnitude of work-related injuries, diseases and fatalities worldwide.
This Year, Uganda once again will be joining the rest of the world in marking the day under the theme “OSH IN ENTERPRISE DEVELOPMENT AND COMPETITIVENESS”. The commemoration will take place at the CHOGM Memorial Gardens and will kick start with a procession that will be flagged off at 7:30 am at the Ministry Headquarters.
The commemoration has been preceded by promotional activities in a week long OSH week that included among others the OSH Marathon that was held on 22nd April, 2018.
