Today morning(25.10.18), the Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago received the Minister of Gender, Labour and Social Development the Hon. Janat Mukwaya who paid a courtesy call at the Lord Mayor's Parlor. The Minister is in Kampala on a Field Monitoring Visit as an on-the-spot assessment of selected projects financed under the Youth Livelihood Program (YLP) and the Uganda Women Entrepreneurship Program (UWEP).
The Lord Mayor appreciated her visit as it provided more information about the projects compared to the scanty one that was available. He further valued the Community Development Driven (CDD) which is well structured but only needs boosting. He raised pertinent concerns about the World Bank initiative of assisting the informal sector to create jobs, improving work spaces in Kampala as common user facilities.
Finally, he reiterated the urgent need to pass the Kampala City Market Ordinance and Parliament amending the 1942 Market Law. The meeting was attended by the Deputy Lord Mayor Hajat Sarah Kanyike, KCCA Deputy ED
